Listening Assignment No. 10 (LAST ONE!)

This will be your last listening assignment.  This week we're listening to the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Stevland Hardaway Morris (born May 13, 1950 as Stevland Hardaway Judkins), known by his stage name Stevie Wonder, is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and was a child prodigy who developed into one of the most creative musical figures of the late 20th century. Blind since shortly after birth, Wonder signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of eleven and continues to perform and record for Motown to this day.  Wonder has won 22 Grammy's including three Best Album awards for Innervisions (1974), Fulfillingness' First Finale (1975) and Songs in the Key of Life (1977).

This week we will be listening to Superstition from Stevie Wonder's 1972 album Talking Book.

    2. The instruments I hear are the drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, a clavinet (an electric keyboard looking thingy) and vocals.
    3. It is a small group.
    4. This song reminds me of a bunch of superstitions I used to follow. I used to hold my breath when going through tunnels and passing cemeteries. I was afraid to eat in the dark because if you do, you're eating with demons. I was afraid of black cats. But now I don't really care.
    5a) Yes, I do like this song.
    5b) I like this song because Stevie Wonder has a wonderful voice. Also because I like the accompaniment. It sounds cool.

    4. This song reminds me of an episode they once showed. It was about a family who was having bad luck on Friday the 13th; which is a superstition. In the show, they did all kinds of stuff that would give you bad luck. This reminded me of this song because of the lyrics of the song.
    5. A) Yes, I like this song.
    5. B) I like this song because it has an upbeat tempo. And overall it makes me want to sing along and dance. I like how the lyrics describe what Superstition is. I also like how the instruments that were playing mixed well with each other, which gave the song a nice beat.

    4). This tune reminds me of mystery/detective movies. It seems like an appropriate song to play during those suspenseful scenes.

    5b). My dad listens to a few Stevie Wonder songs and this was one of them. It's one of my favorite songs from Stevie Wonder. I like the rhythm and the lyrics. Very catchy.

    4. This song reminded me of all those good times out of the city such as just going out and bonding with friends and/or family. It reminded me of happy and interesting times I've had. This song has a very "curious" feel to it.

    5b) I like this song not only because of Stevie Wonder's vocal talent but, because of how it had a very upbeat rhythm and sound, all the instruments had key parts to play and it wouldn't have been the same if he released the song without any one of the instruments included in this song.
